Welcome to Hot Air Ohio - your source for all things ballooning in northeast Ohio! We started as a small ride business in 2020, offering private rides for 2 over Medina County, Ohio. Since then, the overwhelming response has been tremendous, and we are proud to announce a new balloon in 2024. This new balloon will help us to share ballooning with even more people as we are now able to accommodate up to 4 passengers during a flight. Not to worry though, all flights other than single riders are still private, meaning we will never pair you with other passengers for your flight. Balloon rides make for a great birthday or anniversary gift, engagements, a check off the bucket list, or simply just because you’d love to experience life from a birds eye view! Meet the Pilot - James Mitchell
I have loved hot air balloons ever since I was a young child. In 2003, I had the opportunity to go for my first flight and never looked back. I started flying balloons in 2005, earned my private pilot license in 2006, and my commercial pilot license in 2008. Not only do I fly hot air balloons, but I graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in flight science, have earned my ASEL, instrument, AMEL, CFI, CFII, and MEI fixed wing ratings and am currently a commercial pilot for United Airlines. I introduced my wife, Carolina, into this wonderful sport and now we get to enjoy it with our two kids, Camila and Matthew, who routinely come out to help us crew. I started this company as a way to provide an opportunity for people to experience a balloon flight locally. There’s no need to travel out west and ride in a large balloon with several other people when you can enjoy a private ride over your own backyard. I can’t wait for you to come see us so I can share my love and passion with you as we enjoy the beauty that Ohio has to offer!
